أول مشروع عابر للحدود في الشرق الأوسط والعالم العربي يربط العاصمة الإماراتية أبو ظبي بولاية صحّار في سلطنة عمان بطول 303 كم.
يمثل قسم عمان من شبكة السكك الحديدية أول نظام سكة حديد يتم انشاءه في تاريخ سلطنة عمان.

أعلنت شركة سيمنس موبيليتي و شريكها حسن علام للإنشاءات في الائتلاف عن فوزهما بعقد تصميم وبناء ودمج أنظمة خط سكة حديد أبوظبي – صحّار المملوك لشركة عُمان والاتحاد للقطارات ، وهي شركة مشتركة مملوك من قبل البلدين. وستقوم شركتا سيمنس موبيليتي و حسن علام للإنشاءات بتصميم وبناء ودمج احدث نظم الإشارات طبقا لمواصفات التحكم الأوروبي من المستوى الثاني – Level 2) ETCS( المتوافقه مع البيئه التشغيليه بالمناطق الصحراويه في منطقة الخليج العربي والاتصالات وإمدادات الطاقة اللزمة عبر خط سكة حديد أبوظبي – صحّار على مسافة 303 كيلومتر. يمثل هذا المشروع أول شبكة سكك حديدية عابرة للبلاد في الشرق الأوسط والعالم العربي.

يرتبط المشروع بشبكة السكك الحديدية الإقليمية الحالية والمقترحة في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي وسيتم دمجه بها بالكامل، وذلك في إطار رؤية لربط دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي المختلفة من خلال شبكة السكك الحديدية. ستربط شبكة السكك الحديدية الإماراتية – العمانية (حفيت للقطارات) ميناء صحّار في سلطنة عمان بشبكة السكك الحديدية الوطنية لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في أبوظبي، وهي شبكة تربط جميع الإمارات السبع في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة حتى حدود المملكة العربية السعودية. ويهدف البلدان من خلال هذا المشروع التاريخي إلى تسهيل ممارسة التجارة عبر الحدود ورفع كفاءة منظومة سلسلة التوريد من خلال ربط الموانئ التجارية والمناطق الاقتصادية بشبكة السكك الحديدية وتعزيز الترابط التجاري والاجتماعي بين البلدين. كما يهدف المشروع إلى ربط المراكز الصناعية بين البلدين وتعزيز فعالية الخدمات اللوجستية، فضلًا عن التوسع في القطاعات الصناعية المختلفة والنشاط الاقتصادي والسياحة.

Siemens Mobility together with Hassan Allam Construction wins signaling contract for the UAE – Oman Railway Link (Hafeet Rail)
Siemens Mobility, together with its consortium partner Hassan Allam Construction, is honored to announce that it has been awarded the Abu Dhabi – Sohar Design and Build Railway Systems and Integration contract by Oman – Etihad Rail, a joint venture co-owned by the two countries to deliver this network. Siemens Mobility and Hassan Allam Construction will deliver the design, build and integration of the ETCS Level 2 signaling, telecom and power supply systems over the 303–kilometer–long Abu Dhabi – Sohar railway link. Thesignaling solutions are state-of-the art and desert-proof. This project marks the first–ever cross-country railway network in the Middle East and Arab world.

As part of a vision to connect the different GCC nations through a Rail Network, the project connects to and shall be fully integrated into the current and proposed Regional GCC railway network. The UAE – Oman Railway network (Hafeet Rail) will connect the port of Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman to the UAE National Railway network at Abu Dhabi, a network which connects all the seven emirates of the UAE up to the border of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Through this historic project, both countries aim to ease the practice of cross-border trade and raise the efficiency of the supply chain system by linking commercial ports and economic zones to the railway network and enhancing commercial and social connectivity between the two countries. The project also aims to link industrial hubs between the two nations and enhance the effectiveness of logistical services, as well as the expansion of different industrial sectors, economic activity, and tourism.
