Today, headed by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers reviewed the results of negotiations between the Ministry of Electricity & Renewable Energy and the alliance of Siemens AG and El Sewedy Electrometer Group, to implement JICA (LOT 1) for the Alexandria Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), which includes the development of the control center for West Alexandria, in addition to its supervisory control center.
This project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will improve the efficiency of the power distribution by upgrading the infrastructure management system, whilst introducing an advanced meter infrastructure.
The scope of the JICA project is encompassed within three of Egypt’s main electricity distribution companies, namely: North Cairo, Alexandria, and North Delta targeting a reduction of blackouts to one-fifth, more efficient revenue collection, prevention of electricity theft and reducing distribution losses whilst ensuring sustainability.
This strategic project is an integral part of the cooperation between the Japanese and Egyptian governments, aiming to contribute to the implementation of vital projects in the electricity and renewable energy sector in Egypt.
