The Signing of a number of contracts between the Congo and the Egyptian companies for a number of projects implemented under EPC system.
The Egyptian companies are gifting electric transmissions for our brothers in Congo; also, they are offering training grants for 20 engineers and technicians.

As part of the follow-up to the projects of Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy at the head of a high-level delegation that includes a number of leaders in the electricity sector, a number of Egyptian authorities and private sector companies operating in the electricity sector to Congo to discuss ways of collaboration and open investment opportunities between the two countries.
Dr.Shaker praised the warm reception in Congo, clarifying that during the visit, lots of discussions were held with each of;
1. Mr. Ilungs Ilunkamba, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo;
2. Mr, Eustache Mubembe, the Congolese Minister of Electricity and Water Resources;
3. Mr. Alexy Kayembe, President Special Advisor in charge of Infrastructure and Director General of the Congolese Investment Authority;
4.Mr. Bruno Kapandji, Director General of Grand Inga Development and Promotion Agency, ADPI;
5. Finally, Mr. Albert Yuma, Chmn at the Congolese Enterprise Association.
He added that the discussions focused on discussing ways of collaborating jointly between the two sides in the field of electricity and renewable energy and on increasing the amount of joint projects undertaken by Egyptian electricity companies.
Moreover, Shaker affirmed the support of the Egyptian Government to the Democratic Republic of Congo in all fields, including the electricity sector, and that all the capabilities of the Egyptian electricity sector are available to serve the electricity sector on its soil.
In this regard, the Egyptian side offered a number of electric transmissions to Congo. Additionally, we offered a training opportunity to 20 Congolese engineers and technicians in different aspects of the electric field.
He assured that the energy sector is 100% ready to pass the Egyptian experience to our Congolese friends. Moreover, a linkage point between both sides was set, in order to proceed with the cooperation.
A number of contracts have been signed under the EPC + finance system with a number of Egyptian companies. The Minister also stressed the Congolese side’s interest in benefiting from Egyptian experience in all fields of electricity and infrastructure.
Affirmingly, the minister stressed that the Congolese delegation experssed their admiration by the Egyptian one, the depth of the Egyptian Congolese connection and their keenness on supporting and strengthen the relationship.
The Congolese side also praised Egypt’s expertise in the Egyptian electricity and renewable energy sector in all fields, expressed its willingness to benefit from it and opened a room for investment to the Egyptian investors and offered all the facilities for Egyptian companies to operate in Congo.
Similarly, the Congolese side assured their eagerness to exchange the experience between the two sides in all fields related to the infrastructure through the private sectors of the two countries. In addition, they expressed their wishes in reopening the Inge file to look for the possibilities of Egypt’s contribution in implementing the next phases of Inga Dam Project; along with executing the electrical linkage project.
Furthermore, This visit was a solid confirmation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Egyptian political leadership, to reinforce relations with African countries and enhance Egypt’s presence in these countries, and to enable the policy of the Egyptian government represented in the electricity and renewable energy sector to support the development of electricity and renewable energy and enhance cooperation with African countries in order to benefit all parties and benefit from the vast hydroelectric potential present on the brown continent.
