An official source at the Ministry of Electricity and Energy said that the ministry has renewed the contract to supply electrical energy with Jordan, indicating that this contract is renewed annually.
The source pointed out in exclusive statements, to “Power News”, that the last three years have witnessed a decline in the quantities obtained from electrical energy, after Jordan succeeded in providing large quantities of energy, noting at the same time that Jordan cannot afford to Abandon the quantities obtained through the connection line with Egypt.
He stressed that the two sides are benefiting from this connection, and that recent negotiations have succeeded in convincing the Jordanian side to raise the quantities obtained through the link line, to reach 20 gigawatt hours after it was 15 gigawatt hours per month until last year.
On the value of the contract, the official said that the prices did not witness any change, except for the Jordanian side’s request last year to reduce some fees, which was not a matter of dispute and was settled without touching on the agreed price equations.
